My Dilantin FREE level just came back 0.66
Can anyone help me out on this one? Good or bad, high or low?

Re: Dilantin FREE level

Sounds a little low. If i RECALL the range is 1.00-2.00µg/mL. Toxic is over 2.5µg/mL

I don't think there is a conversion table from the standard table (10-20 scale) that looks at the binding part of the drug. The free levels look for the NON binding parts.

HOWEVER it depends on what your standard levels usually came out at, and if you were toxic or not. This just tells the doctor your levels are NOT toxic.

I've had them run the Teg Free levels and the standard's came up very high (toxic) but the free came up only .2 above normal. So we ignored the standard test results and paid attention to the free levels. I wasn't toxic so the labs were skewed due to something I ate or the time I took the meds.
