| Gabapentin/Neurontin Question (New Here)

[back story]
I had my first tonic-clonic seizure at work 2 years ago. Two days later i had my first neuro appointment. Two EEG's and an MRI later. I was told it was definitely a seizure disorder, however they were not sure of the cause.
I'm now on Trileptal day&night which (mostly) controls my tonic-clonic seizures.
At a recent appointment, i explained to my neuro. that i'm still getting Auras multiple times a day. I always get auras before a tonic-clonic, however do not always have a tonic-clonic after an aura. I get them on their own very frequently.
So i've now been prescribed Gabapentin (generic Neurontin) 300mg at night.
I am still taking the Trileptal also.
[Here's my question]
How long should i give this medication to take effect?
It's been 5 days.
Is it something that needs to build up in my system? Or should i call my Neuro. and consult with her on whether i need a stronger dose or something?
