Does it exist as good seizure? Am I the only crazy parent that think seizure actually did good to my child than setting her off?
I have a girl with CP, she is 8 years old and had about 10 seizures. The doctors want us to put her on med, because she has abnormal EEG. I m reluctant to meds - especially the meds that u will be on lifetime, the med keep u well but curing you.
However, I found every time my daughter had a seizure, she seems to make some progress! Recent ones improved her math skill, speech and after her last seizure she started to use the bathroom twice a day with ease - no more constipation!!!!
When I tell my discovery to the doctors, they look at me like I have lost my mind!
Have I?
I'm not sure how epilepsy and seizures affect CP, but Dr's are always learning new things about epilepsy and causes, as well as treatments. A seizure is like an electrical storm of activity happening in the brain, sometimes just a portion, sometimes it encompasses the whole brain. I don't know a lot about CP, but whose to say it doesn't somehow temporarily or permanently improve your daughter's function? You're her mom, so you are seeing it firsthand.
Are these improvements in speech, math, day to day functioning long-lasting or only temporary?
My seizures unfortunately have caused me some memory loss and sometimes I cannot find the right word...I know what the object is, but the word does not come to me. I never had this problem before seizures, so I don't think it's my meds.
I'm not sure what else to say or offer, except to monitor it, and maybe seek a few other medical opinions....
