Epstein Barr... range of values

I can't seem to find this information anywhere...

What is the normal range of values for the Epstein Barr test? I have 3.64 and 3.94 on IGG AB and the EBNA, respectively.

Does this mean that I have an active infection? Or, are these normal values for anyone who has had a previous infection? Are these numbers elevated?

Thanks

Re: Epstein Barr... range of values

Apple:

Not sure. I too tested positive:

EBV CAPSID Ag. AB/IgM: 0.14
EBV CAPSID Ag. Ab/IgG: 3.89 - High
EBNA Ab/IgM: 0.60
EBNA Ab/IgG: 5.19 - High

Not sure what stage I'm in though.

Does anyone know how to interpret this data?

Thanks!

Re: Epstein Barr... range of values

Hi,

I found these websites:
http://www.aid-diagnostika.com/english/kits/Immunoblots/IB_ebv_e.htm
http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/ency/epstein-barr_virus_test.jsp, and
http://www.ucihs.uci.edu/com/pathology/PathologyServicesManual/..%5CPathology%20Service%20Manual%5CEPST EIN-BARR%20VIRUS%20(EBV)%20ANTIBODY%20PANEL, %20SERUM.htm

Are you having any symptoms? I talked to my doctor, just yesterday, and he said that the IGM indicates ACTIVE or chronic active infection, and that it is very common for people to have varying levels of antibodies for the other values - and that can be perfectly normal. But, frankly, I have received conflicting information from different people in the same doctor's office. It appears as if an infectious disease specialist is the person whom can answer these questions, as they are trained in viruses/bacterial infections.

Re: Epstein Barr... range of values

Anybody out there who knows about Clostridium Dificile diarrhea and who is treating it successfully in the state of Maryland? Or Pennsylvania or Virginia? Close friend has had many recurrences of C. dificile over 6 years. Needs to take antibiotic for other reasons, but antibiotic triggers more C. dificile. Any help appreciated.
