Does anyone know what it means when you test positive for antibodies of the Epstein Barr virus? I finally get the see the endo on Monday so I picked up all of my medical records to bring to him and after I got home I was going through them and saw a test that they never even contacted me about, that showed positive. It was two different antibody tests for the virus and one was 3.4 and one was >5.0, both of which were positives. By the time I saw that, the doctor's office was closed, so I couldn't call and ask them. Anyone know anything about it?

All I know is that it is a horrible horrible thing to have. I found out on Wednesday that my counts are about at the top of the range for having Mono. I scared my endo because of my neck being swollen around the thyroid area. I have a history of thyroid cancer, and I have adrenal insuffiency on top of all of that. I thought it was my thyroid medicine that was off again because I have been so tired, and my joints have really been hurting. It will be four to five weeks before I am over it according to my blood.
I feel horrible.

Also I know it goes dormant, and it can reoccur.

lulu2008--I don't know for sure but I think that when you show positive anti's that means that you have once had or currently have mono or EB. Perhaps someone else can clarify. FLFLOWERGIRL
