What does it mean to have a high VCA IGG test?

Just wondering what it means to have a high VCA antibody IGG (5.oo) and a high EBNA antibody IGG (5.0 also). My mono screen came back as negative. My doctor said it just means that I had mono or EBV in the past and has no effect on me. I did have mono, but that was over 18 years ago. I was also diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyrioditis last year. My doctor has been focusing on treating my thyroid only and I am not having great results and have tried many different medications for it.

My question is could i have chronic EBV based on the results above? I had mono twice as a kid. I just feel like there is something else going on. I was even sent to a rheumatologist and he didn't find anything. Any suggestions on other tests I should ask to have run or ideas on what else may be wrong?

Did you ever get an answer to your post? Just curious as I have the same vca levels. My anti aging Dr perscribed 1000mg valtrex, but my other Drs have said they are fine.

Re: What does it mean to have a high VCA IGG test?

Hi there. No I never heard anything back. My "main stream" doctors all say it is fine too. However, I just saw a holistic MD (and anti aging as well)who said based on my symptoms combined with seeing those results is guessing that I have chronic mono/EBV. It's not a definite though. He ordered more tests. If I get concrete info I will post it.

His plan is to build up my immune system and test me for other things that cause chronic fatigue.
