I am a 38 yo male. I went to a new MD about a month ago. She is a primary care doctor that specializes in comprehensive medicine . She saw some of my blood work from many months ago and did new blood work and suggested I see a hematologist. Well she is on vacation for 3 weeks but I went to the hematologist tonight and called earlier today to have her office fax over the results to the hematologist. Well it came back positive for HHV-6 and EBV. The hematologist said there is no cure and my titer levels were VERY high. I have been sooooooooooo tired, dizzy, bloated for years. The following are my levels:
Thank you for any input....I really appreciate it.
Ok I went to the Infectious Disease doc and he did more tests because he wants to see if the virus is in the blood. Does this make sense. I went to NYU Hosital in NYC
From what I know, the docs are checking to see if your EB virus is active now. In other words, do you have mononucleosis now. I was told, because i had such high titers, that I had mono once upon a time. I have also read that the EB virus can reinvent itself as chronic fatigue syndrome. There is a lot of controversy about this, and some medical people totaly discredit this theory.
I do know that I felt chronically fatigued even when my thyroid was well controlled. I sometimes found that my temp was elevated when I felt the most tired. Something was going on. At the time I was running after 4 little children. I never did think there was much difference between running after 4 children and chronic fatigue. They seem pretty much the same to me. I feel a lot better now. I hope you get to be feeling better soon too. I don't think there is much to do for chronic fatigue except try to get rest.
