Where exactly is the hip flexor located?

Just wanted to know where the hip flexor is and how far down does it go to the inside? I have an idea but not for certain. Is it uncommon for just one side to spasm off and on like its tightening up? I didn't know if just one side could do that or if its more an irritable bowel thing but its just on the right side. My chiropractor tells me my pelvis rotates and didn't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I have chronic low back pain also and I'm trying to figure out why I get this spasm/tightening feeling on just the right side. Any thoughts?

Yes,they can hurt independent of each other. My right one does periodically due to previous issues with my right foot that caused me to walk off kilter.

Re: Where exactly is the hip flexor located?

I think I have strained one of the adductor muscles if I am saying that right because the inner thigh is tender when I stretch it and I can feel it when I walk. My question is, can I have a strain in a muscle on one side and sciatica on the other? My hips are a mess because they keep going out of alignment. I'm wondering g if all of this has to do with weak stomach muscles as I don't usually work my stomach muscles.

Absolutely! Why aren't you working your core? Hugely important. I strained my hip flexors a few years ago and had an awful case of sciatica. Once my chiro got me back in order, he sent me to a trainer to strengthen my core and told me never to do any exercise that put a strain on the hip flexors like leg lifts, etc. Worked like a charm!

Well, you'll probably laugh but in my younger years I was pretty athletic and with that being said, no one ever told me how important exercise was for getting older. I have had Csections which I'm sure has not helped but now with the pain that I have my energy is just not there. So at this point, I'm not sure what to do. I do know that I don't want to live on pain meds.
