| Re: Working out when young stops growth?
I think the medical profession recommend sports and exercise, unless it could be like the total muscle fatigue needed in bodybuilding, or say overlong distance running.
Generally, the release of human growth hormone through exercise is beneficial, IMO. Exercise is known to spur growth too.
Not going into other benefits like increase in bone density, better body self image, general attitude to an active lifestyle, better fitness/health, etc.
An hour of intense training, might over-exert some, and be at beneficial training levels for others. But then again I am assuming that the martial arts training is body weight and callisthenics.
Ask someone qualified, especially if you think exertion levels are high, or if you have pain or swelling in joints.
And is it a full hour each day that you train? If it's at home or at a dojo, might make a difference too. I.e. your own pace or part of group.
Stunted growth concerns are there with long bone growth. But distinguishing between strength training (using weights) as opposed to bodybuilding/powerlifting/weightlifting might be more useful.
From what you did post, I would say, it would not stunt your growth.
