Protein Powder

Can anyone tell me if adding protein powder to my diet would be beneficial for me? These are things that are standard in my diet:
fruit, raw veggies, chicken breast, ground turkey, tuna, skim milk soy milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal

I know a lot of these things have protein already. How do I know how much I need, and can you get too much? I read an article that suggests adding a scoop of protein powder to a smoothie or oatmeal and that it aids in keeping you feeling full. I am trying to tone up, but don't want to "bulk up", and just don't know if I need to spend extra money on a protein powder.

If you're training hard, you need to be getting around 2g per kg body weight (around 1g per lb). If you can get this through your diet, you don't need to use a protein powder.

You should be using 1 gram per body weight. If your goal is to increase muscle mass, or trying to become more lean bump up to 2 grams per body pound and cut down or your fat and carbs
