I have a few questions about lifting weights..

1.)Why is it harder for my left arm to lift the same amount of weight that my right arm is lifting?????And why does my right arm have more muscle than my left arm?????(By the way I am right handed)

2.)And ive heard that running and doing cardio exercises makes it harder to put on some muscle....is this true and why is this????

3.)I have a six pack now and I dont know how I got it....I think I got it from doing martial arts for a year...I just noticed it....What should I do to maintain it and make the muscles larger in my six pack???? like how many sit ups and crunches etc......
I have been doing 100 sit ups,100 sit ups with my legs in the air,50 leg lifts, and 50 cruches were I try and touch my elbow to to opposite knee ever other day....Is doing this many situps and crunches helping my six pack or hurting it????like is it making the muscles in my 6 pack larger or smaller???

And do I have to lose my six pack in order to make my muscles in my arms and chest larger?????Cause ive heard that cardio makes it were you cant add bulk to your muscles......And ive been running about 1 1/2 miles every other day and 1 day a week I will run 2 miles....

You answered your own question. You're right handed. That arm gets used more so there is more strength/muscle.

It can be true. In order to build muscle you need to have a calorie surplus. The body needs enough calories to maintain current body mass AND build more. Cardio burns calories, so if you're burning more than you eat consistently, then your body has nothing to work with to build more muscle mass. If you eat more - particularly at the key times - you can do cardio add muscle (and I definitely recommend that path).

I image that much ab work is definitely contributing to the six pack. Doing nothing will make it smaller.

You don't have to "lose the six pack" to gain muscle everywhere else, but you may gain a little fat in the bulking process. It is possible to stay lean and gain muscle, but you'll have to be very conscious of diet and how much is enough/too much.

What are the key times? Eat lots of protein after lifting?

Re: I have a few questions about lifting weights..

You need to eat some protein within about 20 minutes after a workout to help build and repair muscle. Then have a regular meal about an hour after.

About one gram of protein per one pound of lean body mass is what is suggested. This is spread throughout the day by way of eating 5-6 smaller meals. However, taking in some extra protein during lifting days in not a bad idea.

Your question about why the left arm is weaker has been answered. But you can help build it up to match the right by starting out with the left and add a few more reps with it. I am strongly right handed from being that naturally and because of my work. So when I started lifting, I found my left weaker....of course. I found myself compensating with my right with some machine presses. My bench press was alittle lopsided when pushing the barbell up and finding I had to push harder with my left. My solution was adding a few more reps when doing dumbbell exercises to help strengthen the support muscles there better.

Your left will get stronger and match your right eventually with time through the lifting.
