No, I don't think you are going crazy. What you are seeing is mostly (if not all) result of wishful thinking. It's all a question of psychology. You work out, you want to see a difference and presto, you think you do see a difference.
I don't know and never heard of anyone who could actually put on any visible muscle mass in such a short period of time (and with such light weights). In addition, lifting weights using the same muscle group without any rest days in between will result in overtraining and will eventually cause a decrease in muscle mass.
I do want to add that what you may actually be seeing is the so called "pump" effect. This happens after muscles get worked and the tissues get filled with more blood causing the muscles to appear bigger. This effect, though, is very temporary and last about 30 minutes after your workout.
