Yes, genetics helps. But even if you aren't blessed, you can get a good v shape.
So what do you really need? A small waist, developed lats, and good delts.
For broad shoulders, military presses, incline bench, and lateral raises.
For big lats, pull-ups or pull-downs, and rows.
A small waist is mostly a question of leanness. Get your bf% down through diet and exercise once you've gained some mass in your back and shoulders.
