Active Release Therapy

Has anyone tried "ART" and if so how do you feel about it? I have a knee and shoulder injury and although I am seeing an orthopedic surgeon, I recently saw a chiropractor that also does ART and he suggested doing that before considering surgery. I have a stretched or partially torn ACL and Rotator Cuff injury.
Thanks

Re: Active Release Therapy

I asked my chiropractor about it last week. He's also taken several years post graduate work in sports medicine so he's reasonably well versed in sports injuries and such. I was wondering about it for my calves and he found my right calf needed it and it's just that he stretched it while I went through a range of motion, it was a little painful but over in a minute. ART is widely used and I even have a book on weight training that suggests ART for certain things. Bottom line is you should always check into the chiropractor option first in my opinion. Surgeons will almost always tell you chiropractor is worthless but most times (in my experience) they are completely wrong and a chiropractor does help me a lot and for a fraction of the cost, pain, and time.
