Question What Exercise Would Be Beneficial For 300lb Man?

Hello All,

I am trying to get help with starting some type of exercise program for my 300lb brother-in-law. He seems to enjoy the thought of using weights. How much would a guy his size start out with? He is very limited in exercises he can do because of his weight. Anyone know of any websites I can turn to for help in this matter? I just lost a sister 2 weeks a go and her weight contributed to her death. We are now trying to help my brother-in-law get on the right track and he is very willing to accept any and all help.

I think at his weight, some light cardio would be good. Maybe walking for 1/2 hour a day and just increasing the time or adding ankle/wrist weights over time. But I'd definately consult with his doctor first before he undergoes any type of exercise regime.

My mother too is grossly obese and she will most likely die of a weight related illness. She already developed diebetes from being overweight and now just learned she has osteoarthiritus in her knees due to the burden on her joints from the weight (which means she can't really work out now because of the pain/discomfort)

You're lucky that your brother in law is willing to do something about it, my mother just seems completely unwilling to do anything about her health (and she's only about 53)
