It kind of depends on how often you are doing step. If you are doing it 3x/week with some days in between, you are probably okay. You are more suseptable to overuse injuries if you do not have any variation. Knee and hip problems would be most common with step. Just listen to you body. If it tells you to stop and try something else, then do it.
