Office Butt....

I've been working as a programmer for a couple of years now. As some of you may know, this requires a lot of sitting (as do most of the office jobs). I may be imagining it, but I do feel like my butt is getting bigger by the day. I do run 2-3 miles about 3 -4 times a week, but the long hours of sitting is wearing on me. Is there a posture that is better than other or special cushion I can use to make long sitting better?

There are many different chairs out there for that. I'd suggest simply doing a google search and you'll probably find a lot of stuff. Also a chiropractor might be able to recommend something as well.

Yes, there are ergonomic chairs and cushions. They help will keeping away back and neck pain, but will not reduce, slow down, or get rid of "office butt." (I like that term...I forget what we used to call it.) The only way to reduce "office butt" is diet and exercise. (I'm assuming you can't get up to walk at work.) If you can, you could try walking during your break. Can the doughnuts, because they really do put a lot of weight on you. Try exercising at home. Back kicks and lunges are good for the butt.

Actually your running could be giving you better muscle mass back there. Also as we get older, our buttocks often get wider. As long as it is easy to get clothes your size don't worry about itl.

I'll look into a special cushion. I've heard of people using a stability ball as an office chair, but I don't think they make one that is high enough for my desk. Does anyone know if they make a cushion that works similar to it?

You're right about getting older.
I just turned 26 this year and I notice that my body is a bit more unforgiving.
