Winter workout splits

I'm thinking of trying a new split this winter! I currently use the Max-OT principles for "overloading"! You can either choose the 5 day or 3 day workout! I use the 3 day: Monday (chest,triceps, abs), Wed (legs, shoulders), Fri (back/biceps)! I also throw in sprints 2 times a week!

Now to my QUESTION: I've heard many "experts" say that when overloading or working out for mass, you can allow more time for recovery....like 10 days! Do you think the following workout split would be beneficial for me:

First week:
Mon (chest,triceps,abs)
Tues (cardio)
Wed (off)
Thur (cardio)
Fri (legs,shoulders)
Sat/Sun (off)

Second week:
Mon (back, biceps, abs)
Tues (cardio)
Wed (off)
Thur (cardio)
Fri (chest, triceps)
Sat/Sun (off)

Third week:
Mon (legs, shoulders, abs)
Tues (cardio)
Wed (off)
Thur (cardio)
Fri (back, biceps)
Sat/Sun (off)

Then repeat the splits!

*If I hit this really hard, do you think it will be beneficial?

I don't think that's true at all. Allowing that much recovry time all the time will lead to slow atrophy, undertraining, even with "overloading." However... I think if you want to try something new, go for it. Just keep a journal and make sure you note the difference in strength, mass and performance working that way. If you gain, then you have somehting there. If not, you can see the trend before wasting any more time and effort. Let us know how it works out.
Do you have any articles or references citing use of that much recovery time long-term? I'm not bagging on you, man. I'm just curious where the info is coming from.
