swimming as part of workout

I have bee thinking about incorporating swimming into my workout during the week. Does anybody here swim on top of their workouts? and if so have they noticed a difference from when they didn't swim? Thanks.

Re: swimming as part of workout

I have never swam on top of my workouts because I don't have access to a swimming pool. But I do remember when I was a kid that you could get your heartrate up pretty quickly just by swimming. I think it would be great for your cardiovascular system and it isn't hard on your joints. I would add swimming to my workouts if I could, but I just don't have access like I said.

Me too! I think swimming is an awesome exercise, because like Zshock said, it's not hard on your joints, and it really gets the heart pumping. I too used to have the ability to swim when I was younger, but now, I don't really have the time to go to the gym unfortunately. Well, for one reason, the gym is a little too far for me. However, they are in the process of building a gym near my house....in that case, I may consider. Anyways, if you have the place and time for swimming, in all aspects DO IT! I think it's one of the best cardio exercises out there.

Re: swimming as part of workout

I love swimming after a work out. It's fun.. And it effective. It really works all your muscles.. I think it's a great idea. Swimming is perfect for full body toning.
