Do I have to have a strict diet too?

I've decided that i want to lose about 10 pounds. I am involved with many sports and i go to the gym and run about 5 times a week. I haven't lost any weight, so im assuming its because i need to eat healthy AND exercise in order to lose weight. I just have a huge problem with committing myself to eating healthy. What are some things i should cut out of my diet? Bread? Potatoes? Rice?

Thanks

You don't necessarily have to cut anyhting out completely (although obvious junk is a good place to start). Often portion control will make a huge difference. But for starters, what are your current stats (height/weight) and what does your current diet look like; be a exact as you can with what foods, how much, and when you eat.

Re: to I have to have a strict diet too?

i'm 5'4 140 pounds. keep in mind a lot is muscle. Is there a way to lose muscle... the bulk of it atleast, without harming myself?

My current diet is something like:
6 am- whole wheat bread with salami, a yoghurt and apple.
12 noon- an apple
4 pm- usually cereal
and then before 7 i just have the dinner my parents make.

Its not that i eat insanely bad, its just that sometimes ill have a chocolate bar or something, and then after the chocolate bar ill want some icecream, and then it just messes myself up so much and i feel horrible.

Re: to I have to have a strict diet too?

I would think from what you've said, you need to add some calories. You are going like 10 hours on an apple thats MAYBE 100 calories. I'd try and put a nutritious snack in there somewhere between 6AM and Noon. Make sure you aren't loading up on a big dinner and going to bed within a couple hours. I barely ate all day then had a huge dinner and was in bed 2-3 hours later, I put on a ton of weight doing that...
