Now sodium makes you retain water. So over indulgence of sodium along with water, then i can see why they said its possible. Don't let anyone tell you anything bad about water, never understood why people say stuff. Like you can die if you drink too much, unhealthy to drink a lot of water, etc.
You have to drink like 5+ gallons in one sitting to have "intoxification" problems, and possible "drowning". Drink all you want when you want, you know when you don't want anymore..
