Cold Shower vs Hot Bath

Is it a coincidence that the sportsmen seem to take quick cold showers whereas the fat lazy people sit in hot bathtubs?

Re: Cold Shower vs Hot Bath

someone once told me that the steam from hot showers messes with your thyroid. i havnt looked into it to see if it was true, but that could be why...

Re: Cold Shower vs Hot Bath

I read in an article about one football player that took contrasting hot and cold showers for his muscles. I can't remember the exact reason why but I thought it was interesting. A lot of athletes also take "ice baths" for 10-15 minutes to help heal and rehabilitate the muscles.

Yeah I read something bout the whole switching from hot to cold to hot showers, I think it has something to due with the contraction and expansion of your veins and arteries but i'm not 100% sure on that one :/

Re: Cold Shower vs Hot Bath

Well if you're being fat and lazy and not getting all hot and sweaty from working out, then a cold shower probably wouldn't sound too good.

Re: Cold Shower vs Hot Bath

i had a conversation with my anatomy teacher the other day about this. If you shower with water too hot it will dry out your skin uhhmm cold water i dont remember what she said but she said showering while the water is tepid is the way to go tepid water is a little colder than warm :\ doesnt make sense but try it i think it really feels great when you feel the water you shouldnt know the difference if its hot or cold
