Help! Need to loose weight & not working

Hi! I need some words of encouragement and some ideas if I'm on the right track please. I am 35 yrold Female weigh 155lbs 5'5. I had my last child 4yrs ago and am overweight. My mid section especially.(2 c-section) I thought a good place to start up(it's been awhile) was trying to increase my metabolism so I do 30 min aerobic video in am with crunches/stretches after or run/walk for 40 min 4-5 days a week before I eat breakfast. I am also trying to eat healthier and reading up on it. I've been at this for a month now and lost nothing. Any ideas or suggestions on what I can do or if I am even on the right track. Eventually I want to add in weight training but though just burining off some fat (155lbs and overweight) was a good place to start. Please help.
Thanks

Re: Help! Need to loose weight & not working

Did you measure your waist, hips, etc with a tape measure when you started your exercise program? If so, measure again and compare those numbers. You may have gained some muscle tissue while losing some fat.

Try to keep the long term or "big picture" in mind while trying to lose weight. If you think of building a new set of habits for long term health, then you've already made a good step in that direction by building an exercise habit. As you learn more about healthy eating and calories, you can improve more factors. In time, you should see the changes on your scale, too.

Depending on your bone structure and muscle mass, you probably only need to lose 20 or 30 lbs. What if it takes a year? In a year's time, you could have a slim, healthy body with new habits that will keep you continuing in that condition. Or conversely, you could go on a "crash" or fad type diet, lose 20-30 lbs, and gain it all back (and more) in that same years' time.

Re: Help! Need to loose weight & not working

Thanks for the reply wwonder . I am in it for the long term and no I haven't measured myself, I am just slowly trying to change my lifestyle by eating better and exercising.
2 years ago I started a gym membership and they did all my body measurements and mobility tests ect. My body composition was then 22.5 and she told me she'd like to see me at 18or19. (I think it's body fat) . Can't affor to renew it.
I do keep the big picture in my mind somedays it's harder than others. I rent lots of books from the library about eating right and exercise and learn a little from each book and try to apply it to my everyday life. There is also diabetes in my family (mom had it) so I have been thinking about that lately but have been tested and so far I'm lucky. Anyways thanks for your encouraging words and if anyone sees something I'm missing please reply
