Pedometer Question

Hey there,

Ive recently gotten into jogging and bought myself a pedometer to see how far i was able to run. Im trying to train for a 6K race in July. Im confused at setting up the pedometer to read my stride. The instructions say to count your walking stride for 20 feet. However if im going to use this for jogging shouldnt i jog thoose 20 feet and then count my steps??? Or will it be able to tell from walking?? does it matter??

Thanks in advance

Re: Pedometer Question

Believe it or not, you probably cover the same amount of ground in the same amount of steps whether you are walking or jogging. Watch people on the treadmill at the gym and take note of where their feet hit the belt, no matter whether they are running or walking.

But I'd say to check both out (for example, walk the 20 feet and then jog the same distance) and count your steps and then use an average of the two. It's better to underestimate the distance you've run than it is to overestimate it.

Re: Pedometer Question

LOL

I kinda wondered about that myself, and if walking or running actully even made a difference. Figure between your feedback, and the lack of any difference in the instructions it dosnet make much of a difference.

Thanks for the reply
