The past few days I have been trying protein shakes right after cardio. I do 45 mins on an elliptical and they are medium to hard intensity workouts (for me anyway). I am up to 4 miles in 45 mins. Anyway, so I am really working my lower body and can really feel my legs getting a good workout, so I figured a protein shake would help me.
My only concerns are that I have to substitute the shake for a meal. The shakes at Gold's are fom 300-600 calories. I have been drinking a shake for a meal and tweaking my diet so I get the calories I need, but is this a good thing? Do I really need protein right after my cardio?
You should try to get protein from every meal, so there's really no reason *not* to. And at 300+ calories, there has to be more than just protein in there, so you're likely getting a helping of carbs and fat as well.
ps. you could always bring a home made shake with the macronutrient ratios that YOU want to have.

Yes, they list the nutritional info on the shakes. Don't recall the exact numbers, but they do have fat and such, but it isn't much. I think I will keep the shakes for now. Thanks.
