How long after eating should I wait to exercise?

I have been trying to wait at least 2 hours after I eat breakfast to do my cardio. However, my schedule is changing and I may not be able to do that. How long should I wait after eating to work out? Should I work out before breakfast? Working out on an empty stomach just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Re: How long after eating should I wait to exercise?

But it's a good idea for a lot of other people. A lot of people do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and it works great. However, by working out do you just mean cardio? I wouldn't go lifting weights on an empty stomach.

Also, if you don't like the idea of cardio on an empty stomach why not have something light, do your cardio, shower, etc and then eat again 2-3 hours afterwards?

I work best on an empty tummy, sometimes I will have a couple crackers but I can do cardio, tae Bo and go all day after and not feel the need to eat, I must have a reserve of carbs to keep me going that long after excersising.
