Leg Muscles

Is there a good way to "target" certain leg muscles in a workout? I especially want to work on my Vastus Lateralis muscles on the outsides of my thighs. The Medialis is already getting quite defined. Could positioning the angle of my feet during squats help with the Lateralis? And, if so, what's the angle?

Leg abductor machine, squats with wider stance. Thats the muscle that gives the wide sweep to the outside of the leg. Mine have been described as "freaky" and my main work is the squat (wider stance)
