I have been finding lately due to a change in my kids schedule my cardio is all over the board. Some days I have time to do an hour at low intensity, other days its HIIT cardio for 30 mins (plus a 5 min warm up and cool down), other days its 45 mins at a higher intensity. Also sometimes I am doing it in the AM other days PM or mid afternoon. No schedule at all. Usually I do cardio 3 days on 1 day off plus weight training when I can, but this is a cardio question. My goal is fat loss so my question is......would it be better to be doing some kind of consistant cardio training or is it OK to be all over the place as long as I'm doing it?
Hey bluehen! I have the craziest schedule being in sales and traveling out of town that I'm never in the gym doing cardio the same time. It didn't hurt my progress, just as long as I was doing it. The only time I saw no change, but no gains was when I was out of town for 4 days and forced to eat out and there wasn't a gym I could go to. Sure, I was disappointed that there wasn't a loss, but then again, there was not a weight gain either.
I've learned that it's different for everyone. I do cardio after my resistance training and have a friend that does if before. I know I've seen a difference by what I'm doing, but can't figure if it's when I do the cardio, what I've been eating or what, maybe a combination?
She's been doing cardio before her training, started enjoying a couple of drinks with her new boyfriend during the week and eating out more. She hasn't seen a difference at all. I think she's even gained a couple of lbs. She's just choosing to have a social life and eating bad, but still does the cardio and isn't seeing results.
