Is this true?

I heard that you can lose weight when you diet and not excercise but not by excercising and not dieting. My husband is notorious for bringing home cookies and junk and it makes is so hard to abstain because I am still addicted to the sugar. He says that I should be able to eat those things if I would just work out. I don't think that sounds right. Surely working out and dieting goes hand in hand, right?

Most of the population cannot get away with eating like crap and relying on exercise for 'damage control'. You can exercise all day but if your diet is garbage, you may never lose a pound.

I agree there are only a few lucky ones that can get away with that and I would say most of them are under 21.

Thats what I thought. My problem is when I was in high school, I could eat what I wanted with no excercise and not only did I not gain, I stayed underweight. Now I need to lose about 25 lbs and I can't seem to get mentally ready to be physically fit.

I know it kind of sneaks up on you, I started to realize it in my early 20's and have gone the exercise/healthy route ever since.
