| Need muscle
I'm an 18 year old male. I run most days for 30-45 minutes and eat pretty decently. I stay away from all fast food, try not to eat much junk food like candy or chips. I eat like whole wheat bread, fruit, veggies (when available), oatmeal, nuts, those protein bars, cereal...
Anyway, everyone is telling me I'm too thin and need some muscle and I agree. I'm 5'7" and around 125lbs. I don't know what a dude like me should do for weight training exercises or how long/often to gain lean muscle mass so that I don't look like bones?
I know I need to eat lots of protein. I heard 1g*body weight per day. So 125 grams of protein a day for me sound good? Where should the majority of my protein come from? Would buying some protein powder drink be worth it? If so, what kind (please something that I can actually drink without feeling the need to puke)?
I know this may be hard to answer because of many variables, but I want to know approx. how long it takes to gain visible muscle? Should I expect to look not-too-boney in a months time? Two months?
I love to run and I don't want to give any of that up. Would I have to cut back on my running to gain muscle?
Thanks.
