Can Exercise Decrease Height Or Prevent Growth?

Well, I'm wondering if working out can prevent growth or make you smaller.

i just lost 1/2 in. but i dont know why. im thinking its because of working out too much, or lack of sleep.

soo, im doing 8 pound weight lifting. im 1* btw. so i need to know if working out shortens you. Thx.

hmm. i've never heard of that. i've been working out faithfully for yrs and havent lost height.

oh, also...no, it doesnt prevent growth. i think its great your so young and getting off to a great start, younger people should exercise...I've never heard of lack of sleep affecting height either. i'm about 5'5...if those two things were the case, i'd be 2'4 by now

It's doesn't but when you start weightlifting at a young age then it prevents you growing.

You lost a 1/2 inch? Unless you have bone loss or posture problems, that isn't possible. And certainly not as a result of exercise. 8 pounds isn't really 'heavy' lifting and is about perfect for your age. Check your height again and watch your posture.
