Beginner needs help

I'm a former middle distance runner. I took about 2 years off from running, but I feel terrible now, because I haven't been physically active at all.

My goal is to get "in shape". By that I mean, I want stregth and endurance for my whole body, but not too much weight gain, or increase in size. I also want to try out for my University's track team in fall 2006. I am a very talented runner, with many medals under my belt. I'm also very determined and motivated to reach my goals.

The problem is, the only thing I've ever done to exercise or train is run. That and my diet is crap.

I was just wondering, where do I start? How often should I exercise, which types of exercise, and what does a proper diet actually look like? I have full access to a gym with a track, weights, cardio machines, etc.

Do things like Yoga really help? If so would it be worth my while to add these types of exercise into my schedule?

Any advice is welcome.
