| Re: Need to be able to run!
Walking can have a tremendous positive effect in improving your fitness and allowing you run once again. One of the best method is to combine walking with a short run for example something like this :
2 mins walking
60 secs running
Repeat 6 times, which would be a total of 18 minutes, repeat this 3 times a week. Once your happy with this up move it up to 7 times, then 8 times. So that’s up to 24 minutes. Once you’ve done this for a couple of months. Change the program, go back to 18 minutes, but now reverse do 2 minutes running and 60 secs walking repeating the whole program again. This way you should be gradually and safely acclimatizing your body to physical exercise. You should find the workouts enjoyable and not to hard as the aim is to progressively build up. If you haven’t run for 10 years it will take some time. It’s normal to feel like the way you did, but if you stick with it you WILL be able to run again and run far and fast. However with running, gradual is the key, you also to have watch your joints and your knees so a gradual workout over a period of months is a priority, remember your body is not use to this anymore you have to give it time to adapt. Just take things slow, the two key elements to suceed is fun and gradual.
