I am asking this for a friend because she stumped me on this one. My friend weighed 130 pounds, over the course of 2-3 months she gained about 5 pounds, but her clothes still fit the same. Does this mean she gained only muscle?
Well, it is a lot when you are a lower weight range. If you were 180 and then were 185 no biggy, but I know from personal experience going from a consistant 125 in the past and going to 130 and having none of my pants button, which is why I found this very strange for my friend that her clothes fit the same.
If she has any dietary variation, 5 pounds of water isnt unheard of, especially if she's had anything high in sodium lately. If she's not doing anything new as far as exercise, it's very unlikely it's muscle. 5 pounds on a lean frame won't cause a hugely significant clothing-fit difference either, so some of it could be muscle or fat too.

Well, she said she hasn't changed anything with her workout except she has ben able to increase some of the weights she normally lifts. I guess I was just comparing her to myself, since I know when I gain 5 pounds I can always tell in my clothes.
