How to get rid of that fat!?

Hi. I would like to get rid of the fat on my inner thighs, stomach, and love handles. How can I do this? I've tried sit-ups, but they don't seem to work all that much. And how can you possibly get rid of the fat on your inner thighs and love handles? And your stomach for that matter? I can't think of or find any workout or exercise that will get rid of that fat because of where it is located. Right now I'm starting to ride bike and run. I heard running is probably the best solution because it can get rid of all that fat, but I don't know. Is that true? Any auggestions as to how to get rid of the fat in those areas? I'd really appreciate it.

If it helps, I'm about 5'9" and weigh about 125-130 lbs. I don't have a very good diet either. I eat a lot of unhealthy junk food. I've been trying to stop that and to eat healthy, but when I'm hungry I crave!

Diet and cardio are what will make you lose fat - spot reduction (losing fat in specific places with specific exercises) is a myth. If your diet is junk, that's the results you'll get. Clean up your eating habits and take up running, jogging, bike riding, rollerblading, anything to burn calories.

Re: How to get rid of that fat!?

Unfortunately it's as Naxis said, there is no such thing as spot reduction of fat. Running will be good as you will tone and increase the muscles of your legs, but any real good cardio will work (ellipticals/swimming/running etc). If you can, something like a BodyPump class is good as it a) increases your metabolism which burns fat quicker b) increases your muscle tone and c) is a lot of fun and easy to stay motivated in.

And yeah, diet diet diet. If you keep eating high saturated fat foods, or a lot of carbohydrates before you go to bed, all that happens is that it gets converted to fat deposits over night. If you keep craving food, there are healthier options such as fruit (dried and fresh)/veggies (carrots etc)/nuts (almonds are good), although honestly, a lot of cravings come from being dehydrated rather than being hungry. Are you drinking enough water each day? A good formula for this is to multiply your bodyweight by .66 to get the required number of ounces per day. Next time you're craving some food, try drinking a glass of water instead and see how you feel!

Any cardio will be as good as any other as long as you achieve your desired heart rate over the recommended period of time and do it often enough.
Your fat is genetically placed for you and inner thighs ,lovehandles, and belly fat is a common distribution. If your caloric input is less than the calories you burn you'll pare the fat off all three.

At your height, the weight you have SEEMS right but what you are is actually what is called "skinny fat". It means that because fat is lighter than muscle, you don't weigh so much but your body fat percentage is actually probably pretty high. To get rid of fat nothing works like a good eating program where you eat a little less than what you need for maintaning your current weight, combined with cardio AND, and that's very important, weight training. Diet and cardio will actually cause a loss of muscle tissue so in order to keep as much muscle as possible, you need a good weight training program. And why do you need all that muscle anyway, you ask? Well, the more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolic rate will be because muscle is a very active tissue and needs calories to maintain itself. Fat is totally inactive and burns no calories, obviously. So, the more muscle you have the more calories you can eat and still not gain any weight.
All the advice always boils down to the same key points: There is no magic way to lose weight permanently, you need to eat right and exercise.
