I think it's come that time

Hey guys, I'm new. Blah blah blah.

I just graduated highschool 2 days ago, and I think it's time I get serious about my health. I'm not the healthiest guy. I'm underweight, and what little muscle I have is fluff, no density at all. I haven't had the best diet so far, I guess you could say I am/was a fast food junkie. Anyway, enough of my problems.

I want to get in shape and bulk up, not the 'bulk up' you're thinking, like huge muscles and stuff, I want to work on strength and not looks.

I was wondering if you guys could help get me on my feet. Maybe suggesting what my diet should consist of, daily excersises, things like that.

I know these forums are MASSIVE, so any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And what the hell, I'll thrown in one of these cutsie smilies.

I apologize, I meant to include that in my post. The complex I live in is doing some renovations, and our gym is not accessible right now, all I'm working with is a pair of pinner little 5 lb curling irons I found in my closet.

No worries, you can use bodyweight exercises until you have access to weights or machines.
What I'd recommend is to do a full body workout every other or every two days. Include pushups, rows (with the dumb bells), pullups (if you're able), dips, curls (with dumb bells), squats and lunges. Starting some kind of cardio, like brisk walking or jogging a couple times a week, just for 20 or 30 minutes or so.

Now, for diet, try to go as natural as you can. Lean meats, fish, eggs and dairy for protein. Fresh greens, veggies, whole grains and beans for carbs. Olives and olive oil, avocadoes, flax oil, nuts and nut butters, and fatty fish for healthy fats. Obviously you'll need to eat more in order to gain weight, but eat more of the healthy foods and you'll be more likely to increase your muscle and less likely to gain fat.

He is a beginner and I don't know how strong he is, so I could be wrong, but he would probably be wasting his time lifting 5 pounds.
