First off taking the first step is always the hardest! Congrats. Just remind yourself everyday that no one every got anywhere in life by submitting to their fears. Same applies to you, use that fear as a motivator to train hard, smart and consistant. Do these three things and failure is impossible.

Have some low cal snacks handy so when you're really hungry, you can eat something without derailing your diet. Things like celery, a few carrot sticks, sugar free Jello, sugar free popcicles. Things like that will help to satiate you while keeping you at a caloric deficit. Also make sure you're drinking enough water. Staying hydrated (~8oz per 1-2 hours) will help keep you from feeling hungry also.

I find that I'm hungry if I don't drink enough water when I'm on the treadmill. If that doesn't do it, a meal replacement, in liquid form, always does the job. The calorie contents are usually around 150.

Another thought is, if your workout routine has you regularly increasing difficulty, you may be burning the glycogen from your muscles. Maybe this is putting you into a shortage and your body is calling for some fuel to rectify the situation. Lower resistance will not burn as many calories. But, with your heart rate in the 130 range, your body will draw on the fat reserves as its fuel source. I'm thinking that might help the post workout hunger. Just a thought!

I've found that a handful or two of almonds and walnuts is an excellent appetite killer. I think they also have some Omega 3 benefits. That and a bag of raw vegies is enough to get me to the noon workout. And that is enough to support my 185 frame.

Watch out for the high glycemic carbs. They are notorious for making you hungry sooner than later. Dr. Strand authored on book on the subject. You can find it on Amazon for about $11. Very informative!
