Unhappy Crazy amounts of pain after workout- I'm new is it normal?

Hey all...

I'm totally new to working out. I'm overweight- 5'11" at 205lbs.

I work out my guts, legs etc... I weight train and do cardio and the next day I seriously feel like I am beaten up SO BAD. It feels like someone kicked the crap out of me all over my body (actually wherever it is I worked out) and it feels like my body is bruised and EXTREMELY sore.

Is this normal when someone out of shape first starts working out, or is there something major wrong with me?

The first time I did a BodyPump class at GoodLife Fitness (the gym I belong to) I felt like someone had beaten the crap out of me for the next couple of days - and I mean my entire body! But...that was a one time thing. I think it's perfectly normal to feel really sore after the first time you workout (especially if it was an intense workout) but it should get better after that.
It's pretty obvious that you are working too hard for a beginner and you're going to end up injuring yourself. Take it easy and work up the intensity gradually.

Yes, being sore at the beginning is perfectly normal. Your muscles just arent used to being used like this

I work out with a trainer three days a week. Thank god I leave tues and thurs just to do treadmil, bike and abs because otherwise I'd be a mess. When I'm done with him I'm sore by mid day. Until I worked with him I was never getting sore. Which told me that I wasn't doing something right. Unless you are doing your weights and workouts wrong, meaning injuring yourself, the pain is normal and telling you that you worked a muscle. Your muscles will get stronger and in time will not hurt so much. My advice, hire a trainer for the first few times you hit the wts, just to make sure you are doing them right and will not hurt yourself. Also, the employees at the gym should be showing you how to properly use the equipment, if you ask them.
