| Re: Toning pecks and upper body strength
Chin up bars, while they'll definitely help you gain upper body strength, they wont target your pecs. Push ups can target your pectorals depending on how you perform the push up. Weighted pushups will help even more as doing +50 pushups for instance will merely train the muscles for endurance instead of size(hypertrophy).
In all honesty, I think youre FAR better off hitting a gym. You wont see effective results JUST doing chin ups and push ups. Exercises need to be varied.
Here's what you can do with what you have though:
Narrow and wide grip pull ups. They are just variations that will allow you to hit your lats and biceps as well as upper back.
Try work up to 3 sets of 10-12. If you find you can do this or when you reach this goal, by yourself a dipping belt and some weight plates and start doing weighted chin/pull ups.
Push ups will hit the triceps/chest. But as for real growth from push ups, im not so sure about that. You'd see better results from various bench presses.
Even though youve already bought this equipment, try hit a gym and find a routine on the internet to follow. You can still use the stuff you bought anyway.
