Post another push-up question.....

So I have been doing pushups and situps for quite some time now. My plan is doing push-up one day, sit-up the next, push-up one day, sit-up the next...etc etc.

Last night, I did 75 push-ups. this is going all the way down and up by the way. I started being able to do 25-30. then I had to rest. I then did 10-15, and took a rest(10-15 sec). Bascially, I rested after every 10-15 pushups. AFter finally reaching 75, I was pretty proud of myself. My arms felt tired, and I was happy. I went to sleep. The next day, my arms did not hurt at all. They felt "rejuvinated" already. Now, I know that you should do push-ups every other day because you need to let the arms rest. But My arms weren't tired the next day! Am I doing the push-ups the wrong way or somthing? Should my arms feel tired the next day? SHould I do push-ups EVERYDAY? Know what I mean?

people say that when you do push-ups, you break apart your tissue and let it regrow(bigger hopefully). But if My arms only hurt the night I do them, are my tissues breaking apart at all?

Your tissue will break down but it won't regrow like you were doing bench press or something. Keep in mind the longer you work out the less sore you will be the next day. Your body is used to the stress and chances your arms won't be sore until you change up your routine.

so what are push-ups for then???

I always consider them as "benchpressing your own weight." Am I wrong??

A pushup is an exercise just like any other. You are not bench pressing your own weight. You are just doing a simple pushup. It's effective but has boundries. I do not know if you have gained and muscle from doing these but from experience I haven't. Also it does involve the chest, shoulders and triceps and you will get a workout from them but like I said you ain't gonna gain size. Try bench pressing your own weight at the gym and you will see the difference. Let's say I do 50 pushups. The most I can do for bench press at my own weight would be 10 times..

well, size is not really my concern. I just want to "harden up" my arms. will push-ups do that?? I want to see "shape" to it. Know what I mean??
