Russian Muscle Stimulation using an EMS machine is quite painful after a few pulses...and even as strong a muscle contraction as it causes, it does not build realistic muscle. The benefit I can see it having is in toning an untrained muscle, or in certain persons who have muscle wasting. However, with that being said, it can be used to make sure you hit as many muscle fibers as possible, therefore more muscle recovery. Perhaps the low intensity machines allow for that, but it would at least require that you work out in addition to using the device. Most of them that I've seen are low quality...and the last thing I would want is to use a low quality ELECTRICAL device on my body.
If you use one, find out from the manufacturer if a surge protector should be used with it. Seems to me the last thing a person would want when using one would be an amp surge.
