Post Change my ab workout?

I have heard that you should change your ab workout every couple weeks because your stomach muscles get "used" to the old ones and after time you won't develop them as much. Is this true? Should I change my workout soon because I've been doing it for quite a while now! What are some good ab crunches/workouts? Thanks for the advice!

Love, Jen
PS- I run a lot so I don't have any fat on my stomach so I just want to develop my abs so I can see them!

some people believe in doing hundreds of sit ups, but i believe in doing 3 sets of 12. abs are like any other muscle. i just do it with great intensity. i push like my life depended on it. your abs will feel great. contract on the way up, and slowly come down so your abs are still contracting.

If you are loking to build more ab muscle, then you need to increase resistance. A Gazillion crunches with no resistance won't build that muscle like you want. Try an incline bench, do crunches with 5 or 10 lb held to your chest, try hanging crunches... any kind of resistance will help to build muscle. If it's too easy, you will get tone, at best.

jl8201, what you said about doing fewer sit-ups with greater intensity is very interesting and logical. I've been doing a lot of sit-ups (usually about 100 per day) and not getting the results I want. I feel like I'm definitely doing something wrong, so if you wouldn't mind sharing your routine, including how many times per week you work your abs (I do this every day), it'd be much appreciated. I'm tired of being a slave to my exercise routine. Thanks!
