Ah water. Little do people know just how beneficial plain, pure water can be.
The first change I made in attempting to make improvements was upping my water intake. I swear, some people's bodies are so out of whack with their water intake that they're holding onto many pounds of excess water weight inbetween their muscle and skin. This gives them a bulkier look.
As I started drinking more I realized the number on the scale was a lot lower and my body didn't seem so smooth. Of course, at the time I was pretty overweight, but it still made a difference.
You posted about Body-for-LIFE earlier and I can relate water intake to the program. You see, all the people that have had their after pictures taken are advised to do certain things that day. One of those is to drink atleast 10 glasses of water that day. That way their body will release any held up water and they'll look even more ripped. Most likely, the cover models for such magazines as Vanity Fair, Men's Health, Men's Fitness, Men's Journal, Muscle and Fitness, Flex, etc. all probably drink a ton of water the day of their photoshoot. Of course, it's not a panacea for all weight problems but it's a definite factor.
Water also keeps improper hunger sensations at bay. Sometimes the body makes you feel hungry when all it really wants is water. If your water intake is constant and high then you can never get improper hunger pains. Nice =P.
Calories are non-existant in water, there's no caffeine or additives(usually), and it goes great with any meal. Usually it's pretty cheap as well. Water has so many benefits, especially for fitness.
