Post how important is protein?

I know that you're supposed to have around 1g of protien per lb of body weight., but I find it extremely hard to consume that much protien since I don't eat red meat or sea food.

I try to eat chicken, turkey or egg whites everyday but that still doesn't give me the amound of protien I apparently require.

Does anyone else find it hard to get enough protein?

You may want to supplement with a protein shake or two. Peanut Butter, milk and cheese are good sources of protein if you don't eat red meat or tuna.

There's good reason to believe that the protein "requirements" are over-inflated. 1g per pound of body weight sounds way too much. Perhaps 1g per KG of body weight is more reasonable. Sure, if you want to gain muscle, you'll need to increase the protein.

A range between 1.2-2.0 grams per kg of bodyweight is more reasonable. Anything more is not really necessary.
