Post Wrist Exercises

Anyone know any good exercises for the wrists? At the moment, I take two dumbells, lean over a flat bench and raise my wrists. Then I twist them from side to side. Then I take a smaller weight and raise my wrist with the palm facing up. Is this good for my wrist or just myu forearms. I haven't noticed any improvement in the size of my wrists, just in my forearms. Is it worth buying those little things you squeeze about a hundred times?

All these exercises will be working your forearm. I don't think you can increase the size of your wrist. It just depends on your frame size (or how fat you are).

I think I just have unlucky genes and will be stuck with small wrists forever (unless I get fat!).

You really can't increase your wrist _size_. There is really not much there but bone, ligaments and tendons. But you can work on you _grip_. I have teeny tiny wrists too and my grip is a bottleneck for me, so I use gloves to help me out with that and work on my grip when I'm less concerned about working large muscle groups. And even occasionaly do wrist curls and raises. I have never been able to bring myself to get one of those springy gripper things. Too many mental images of overblown machismo.

Yeah, I have small joints too. It's not all bad though as muscles look bigger on small joints because they appear more pronounced (supposedly).

I've heard this gloves thing before and I don't understand it. Why does wearing gloves mean you don't have to grip as hard? I still grip hard when I use gloves. I only use them on heavy lifts (eg dead lifts, barbell rows) as my hands get sweatly and the bar slips even though I still have some grip strength left.
