Do you use a trainer?

I am debating about whether or not to hire a trainer.
It is a bit of an investment.
Tell me, was hiring a trainer worth it for you?
Also, how long did you use a trainer?

Re: Do you use a trainer?

I started working out at the gym last September and really wasn't seeing any results. I contacted serveral trainers and finally found someone in December. What a difference - I highly recommend going this route.

Just take your time to find the right person. And yes, it is expensive. I'm spending close to $700.00 a month for training and it's killing me financially.

Re: Do you use a trainer?

I had been using a trainer for more than a year and the results were wonderful. I agree with the previous poster though, you have to take your time and choose the right one for you. It's expensive, but very much worth it. I have an issue being motivated so the trainer really helped me keep focused on my goals.

Invest in a library card instead. Seriously, every thing my personal trainer told me can be found in virtually every exercise book. I like the Men's Health exercise books. Even though they're for men, they have easy step-by-step instructions for each exercise. if you're worried about injuries, try Pilates first b4 going to a gym. Pilates is easy and effective.

Re: Do you use a trainer?

Yes the information is widely available, but a *good* trainer can help you bypass a lot of the trial-and-error you typically have to go through when trying to figure out your own boundaries and threshholds. And there is something to be said for the motivation factor as well.
That said, if you have *some* foundation of knowledge on diet and exercise and are driven to work out on your own, a trainer isn't absolutely necessary. But it can definitely be beneficial to get some help on the hows and whys early on.
