I disagree that they are all the same. Different kinds of carbs are treated diferently by your body. For instance high GI carbs cause an insulin spike and low GI (glycemic index) carbs burn more slowly. Fructose is perferred by the liver while dextrose is preferred by the muscles. For weight loss, high vs low GI carbs is probably what you should be watching. High GI carbs are more likely to be stored as fat if not being used right away, while lower GI carbs give you more sustained energy and take longer to burn. Try a search on Glycemic Index for more info and lists of what foods fall where.
