Post types of carbs

you know how even juices and stuff have carbs...when trying to stay on a low carb diet (tryin to burn some fat to show my six pack, yes i know i cant spot reduce)do these types of carbs matter, or are carbs carbs..so the carbs in my juice is the same as the carbs in say a box of cereal ? both will lead to stored fat right...

Yes they are pretty much the same. No matter what kind, rather it is juice or pasta. My mom is on a low carb diet and has done lots of research about it and the diet is working wonderful for her!

You should definitely limit simple carbs such as sugar, white, processed flour, etc. (I did say limit, not eliminate) and eat more complex carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables). They are much healthier for you (for many reasons).

I disagree that they are all the same. Different kinds of carbs are treated diferently by your body. For instance high GI carbs cause an insulin spike and low GI (glycemic index) carbs burn more slowly. Fructose is perferred by the liver while dextrose is preferred by the muscles. For weight loss, high vs low GI carbs is probably what you should be watching. High GI carbs are more likely to be stored as fat if not being used right away, while lower GI carbs give you more sustained energy and take longer to burn. Try a search on Glycemic Index for more info and lists of what foods fall where.

I agree w/ Naxis. My diet is high complex carbs & limitations on the refined or sugar. I'm able to eat every couple of hours & able to sustain a low weight.
