Red face SQUATS: BUTT GETTING FLATTER

I've been doing a set of 50 squats almost every day for the last half a year or so. I make sure that my feet are parallel or turned slightly ******d while I keep my back straight. My butt is already wide enough as it is, so what I want to do is, along with cardio & diet, help make it a little firmer so it sticks out a little like it once used to. Instead, it seems that it's getting flatter while it remains wide! This is really furstrating me, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on this particular exercise. Am I doing something wrong? Would a different type of toning exercise be more effective for the butt area?? Thanks!

Hiya Stigma,

The best excercises that I found to lift and firm the butt are leg lifts and butt crunches. The leg lifts can be done standing, hands on the wall and lift your leg behind you. Ankle weights add more to the work out.

Butt crunches are done by laying flat on your back, kness bent, feet hip width apart, hands on the floor at your sides. Slowly lift your butt, keeping back straight, and sqeeeeeze while youre lifting.

Both of these helped quite a bit when trying to fight gravity and lift that rear end back where it should be.

Squats are the right way to go. Doing 50 is pointless though if you're looking for shape. You need to be doing 12-15 (possibly up to 20 depending on your goals) reps with weight, where the last few are hard to complete.

many people attempt to knock out outrageous aerobic exercise sets to build definition. this may burn lots of cals but if there is no muscular development under those pounds then it's not going to show. use weights...squats, frontal squats, deadlifts...and you can use lighter weight if you have a fear of gaining to much muscle.
