Walking sneakers

What are the best walking sneakers to purchase? I have spent a small forturne (some returned) on sneakers trying to find the most comfortable and better overall for your feet/body.

Re: Walking sneakers

[removed] If you are walking, I [suggest not] an actual "walking" shoe, as a running shoe will give you added comfort, breathability and be much lighter. Something somewhat basic is the 2120, an excellent shoe even for runners. If you want even more cushion, go with the Kayano if you pronate, or the Nimbus if you are neutral or a suppinator. If you're not sure, look at the heels on your current walking shoes. Wearing on the outside - get the Nimbus. Inside, Kayano. I am somewhat biased towards Asics because I have run in the Nimbus for years. Just got the new Nimbus 9's that came out and I am in love. I love their gel cushioned feel. But that's just me! Other shoes I would recommend if you try this on and aren't crazy about it....

Neutral: Brooks Glycerin, Mizuno Wave Creation, Pearl Izumi Float, Saucony Triumph
Mild to Moderate Pronation: Brooks Adrenalin, Mizuno Wave Nirvana, Pearl Izumi Guide, Saucony Omni
Heavy Pronation/Motion Control: Brooks Ariel, Brooks Trance, Saucony Hurricane

Re: Walking sneakers

Thanks for the info. I ordered the asics running shoe and thought I ordered the wrong one as it wasn't a walking shoe so I sent it back. I also find that the Asics are a bit bulky looking.

What does Pronation mean?

Thanks

Re: Walking sneakers

One last question, sorry. When buying sneakers, do you buy the exact size of your foot or 1/2 size larger?

Re: Walking sneakers

Any athletic shoe, like these running shoes I'm writing to you about should always be 1/2 size larger than your normal casual/dress shoe size. Also keep in mind you should really go to a store [removed] because all shoes fit different. Pearl Izumi runs short and narrow in the toebox. Saucony is relatively rounded but also short. I've found Brooks and Asics to be true to size. About you finding it bulky looking, I'd disagree...but it's all opinion. [removed] If anything will be a bit more bulky it would be the motion control shoes. Any running shoe, however is designed to be light and streamlined for obvious reasons, so don't worry to much about it looking bulky.
Pronation and Suppination is the type of gait that you have. When you strike down your heel with each step, if you roll from the outside heel to inside toe, you are a suppinator. The opposite, inside heel to out, is pronation, which tends to be more common. That's why most shoe brands carry many more models that accomodate pronation.
