Your height is mainly controlled by heredity. Generally good nutrition helps you achieve the height you're supposed to be. There are some medical conditions that can cause someone to fail to grow, but they are fairly rare. I believe that growth hormones only affect height in young people with certain medical conditions.
You can make yourself look taller with really good posture and shoes with heels. I noticed most men's sneakers seem to have thicker heels than they used to.
